This year, on the occasion of Social Workers’ Professional Day, we invited our employees to take part in the social campaign “If People Were Music”!
Why a social campaign? Because a social campaign allows us to get to know one another better, brings us closer together, and encourages stronger cooperation.
What is the aim of the social campaign “If People Were Music”? To show and express thoughtful appreciation for colleagues in an original way.
Employees were asked to:
- Choose a colleague (or colleagues) to whom I would like to dedicate a piece of music.
- Find a piece of music of any genre that best reflects the chosen colleague and evokes the strongest associations with them.
- Present the chosen piece of music to the colleague, together with a dedication explaining why this particular piece evokes the strongest associations with them, using one of the following methods:
- by sending an email in which the colleague will find a link to the music video you have shared, along with your dedication.
- by giving them an envelope containing the title of the musical piece you have written down and your dedication.
Feedback from the employees who participated in the campaign showed that this original way of celebrating their colleagues brought them a great deal of joy.
“If People Were Music” – A Warm and Inspiring Campaign at Our Workplace We spend a large part of our day at work, sharing not only tasks but also parts of ourselves with one another. The “If People Were Music” campaign invited each of us to imagine ourselves as a melody – unique, creating a sense of unity and bringing rhythm, harmony, or even unexpected changes in tone.
During this campaign, the team was invited to think about what melody or song would best represent their colleagues. Some might see their colleagues as light jazz – calm, harmonious, and adaptable; others as rock – full of energy and inspiration; and still others as a classical symphony – full of depth and tranquillity. This musical metaphor helped us understand how our different “sounds” blend together into one shared team melody.
Each colleague could choose a song or music genre that represents their colleagues and later share the reasons behind their choice with the team. This activity not only helped everyone get to know each other better but also contributed to creating a warmer and more connected work atmosphere. It turns out that music is like an inner portrait of a person – it reveals things that can sometimes be difficult to express in words.
The “If People Were Music” initiative reminded us that every person is a special, unique, and one-of-a-kind sound, adding their own invaluable note to our shared melody. Justyna
“By sending musical pieces to our colleagues, we had to stop for a moment, take a ‘musical break,’ and send musical greetings. The initiative not only surprised colleagues when they unexpectedly received a song, but also brought us closer together, allowing us to see a colleague with greater sensitivity—perhaps to apologize or say thank you, to appreciate them, or simply to share in their joy.” — Renata
“It was lovely to receive musical wishes from several colleagues and to take some time to reflect on the people around me. It was a creative exercise that encouraged us to consciously pause, recall melodies, and express gratitude.” — Viktorija
