Every year, we celebrate Neighbours’ Day, which this year took place on May 31. We have many Lithuanian folk proverbs and sayings about neighbours, such as “Relatives may be a mile away, but a neighbour is just across the fence” and “The best relative is a neighbour.” Our ancestors already understood how important it is to live in harmony with the people around us. We also strive to maintain warm relationships with our neighbours, get to know them better, and build friendships.
We distributed invitations to everyone living near Valakampiai Social Services Home and were delighted to welcome guests on Neighbours’ Day. Residents and staff from the Special Social Care Home “Tremtinių namai”, together with their director, Artūras Melianas, joined us for the celebration. During the event, we sang, danced, socialised, and enjoyed refreshments together with our neighbours.
We sincerely thank everyone who took part in the celebration. May we always be united by genuine neighbourly friendship and mutual support!
